Ok, somehow this is my first time coming to Blue Plate and that was a BIG MISTAKE. Every single dish we got was perfection, I literally wouldn't change a thing. Octopus, notoriously hard to execute without being rubbery or bouncy, was cooked to perfection. No easy feat! The gnocchi with the succotash was so summery and fresh, the meatloaf was somehow delicate (!!!) the mozzarella-pluot-heirloom salad... just all perfectly encompasses California cuisine at its finest. They have a great wine list to boot, amazing service and also, there is no better back patio to enjoy the perfect meal! Thanks so much to all of the staff for making our visit so special. See you soon!

Second time here, this visit to help my brother celebrate his Birthday. I will say the service by Kamryn was impeccable, spot on, super friendly and an absolute delight. We arrived @ 5:30 and were only 1 of 2 tables in the dining room. We started with the Smoked Trout deviled eggs (which I previously raved about), sadly had no trout taste at all. They were really creamy, but only 4 halves to an order. We also had the CRISPY ARANCINI WITH GREEN GARLIC AND PRESERVED LEMON. The smoky tomato sauce was to die for and they were delicious and piping hot. They could have used a wee bit more sauce "on the balls". Mains were "2" Meatloaf dinners and "1" Fried Chicken. The Fried Chicken was off the hook, so good, with a wonderful smoked jalapeno dipping sauce. One side, the Spanish Goat Cheese Mac and Cheese. We all wanted more of that. Cheesy, smoky, goaty, it was exquisite and the best M&C I have ever had. Plentiful serving for the 3 of us to share. The Meatloaf dinners both arrived lukewarm. And the meatloaf was swimming in some tasteless watery brown "not gravy". I returned my meal to re-heat, which only semi worked. Still just warm, but not really hot. The meatloaf is also too mushy and not dense enough. Could be a bit undercooked. Again, all this is IMP. In the past I have loved all the food I have had here. I felt the meal had slipped a bit from my last visit. We all had a separate dessert of the 3 choices. Winners were the Butterscotch pudding and the Limey Key Lime pie w/the best crust I have ever had. Brownie sundae came in 3rd. Dish is very shallow and very had to dig into the brownie w/out knocking all the ice cream and whip cream off the top. All this for $200 which included 3 non alcoholic beverages.

Meatloaf usually isn't something I think about or consider eating. Perhaps I'm just uncultured, but I've never even seen meatloaf on a menu before. I can't really explain it but there seems to be some sort of societal aversion to meatloaf... I think Blue Plate really changes that. It was a really busy weeknight so naturally, it was pretty lively and loud. I'm glad I made reservations. I never would have thought to associate the words moist and juicy with meatloaf, but there isn't any other way to describe it. The mashed potatoes and green beans are whatever, pretty bland to be honest. The deviled eggs were creamy and had a nice smoky finish. Smoked beef bruschetta was good as well. The lion's mane pappardelle was also a bit bland. I was excited to try lion's mane mushrooms, but I couldn't even tell there was any in the dish. Butterscotch pudding wasn't as smooth as I'd like, but the brownie sundae was good and not overly sweet. I think Blue Plate is really worth trying, obviously for the meat loaf but I've also heard good things about their fried chicken

Love blue plate, a great vibe, service always excellent, meatloaf is the most elevated version. Pop down to the royal cuckoo before for amazing pre dinner cocktail or post dinner for a delicious nightcap- great date night spot or for taking out of towners for authentic SF evening

I ordered the meatloaf for dinner through Door dash and I have to say it was the best meatloaf I've ever had. It was seasoned well, right amount of moisture. It was packed with so much flavor, the mashed potatoes with bacon bits was creamy and silky buttery good and the side of green beans made this dish just perfect! For this dish alone this place gets 5 stars!

Came here for SF restaurant week and the deal they offered was great. I had actually been here years ago and things haven't changed much, which is a good thing so they've remained consistent. We got here early knowing parking would be difficult. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. We sat inside so I couldn't fully see the outdoor area, but it looked really cute. When we arrived there were only a few tables that were occupied, but it definitely filled up fast. I would recommend a reservation if it's a Friday or Saturday night. We each ordered an appetizer, entree and dessert, so we could try a little bit of everything and it was all fabulous. The butternut squash risotto was rich, but tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend it. Amazing food and great service. Can't wait to come back.

We came by on a very busy Saturday night during restaurant week. The wonderful hostess directed us down the street to a bar to wait for our table. Food was promptly delivered, delicious and nicely portioned. We'll come back on a weeknight.
